Paid to Test Free Products Australia. Free Samples!

Join a SaySo Market Research Community and earn SaySo Points for Gift Cards Online.

Market researchers are willing to pay regular people decent money to for paid product testing and share subjective opinions about the products and information that gets consumed every day.

To start testing products at home, you’ll need to join a market research community like SaySo. When you do this, SaySo will send you a screener email to fill out to determine if you qualify for their current product testing activities.

When you fill out screener surveys, we will let you know at the end if you’re eligible or not. For example, let’s say the brand is looking for people to test out their new makeup. If you don’t use cosmetics then you won’t qualify. If you do, then you’ll be eligible for the product testing job.

Once you get the approval to test the product, we will ask for your address to send you the product to evaluate for a week or two. Then, we will follow up with you with an email asking for feedback about the product you’ve tested. When you’re done, you get paid! WOO HOO! Simple right?

Dozens of market research companies across Australia work on behalf of brands to predict whether a new product is going to fly or flop. And to do this, they heavily rely on hearing the thoughts of real consumers like you!

As a product tester, you can expect to receive free products to test at home which you can then keep.

Are the Online Rewards really worth the time and effort?

It depends on what you’re after, but often they are. After all, if the research agency don’t offer something of fair value to entice the panel members they need, they wouldn’t be in business very long.

Having said that, naturally, the quality of rewards does differ.

Popular product testing categories

Some of the most popular products you can test fall under one of these categories.

Technology
Food and drink

How does SaySo use the data we collect?

When you register, we ask for personal information such as your name and address to better match you with the appropriate market research projects. This information is also so that we may send your reward to the appropriate recipient address.
Other personal information that you may be asked to provide to us is solely for the purpose of building and operating an Australian proprietary database of engaged consumers, in order to conduct market research studies on that basis. SaySo only provides information to clients in an anonymized and aggregated form for use in market research.
SaySo does not use Direct Marketing and will never share your data with telemarketers or ad agencies for promotion and targeting purposes.
If you have questions about your data, please contact us via the Contact Us form.

What is a survey?

Surveys are created by our clients who are mostly iconic Australian brands.
Most of the time our surveys will last between 5 and 20 minutes.
Each survey will start with a few questions that will make sure you are part of the targeted demographic group needed for the study. Sometimes, determining whether someone qualifies for a survey takes just a few questions, other times it may take more. When you do not qualify for a survey, your responses cannot be used in the final research findings, and therefore are never transferred to our clients.
You can access surveys on SaySo or via an invitation sent to your inbox. Don’t forget that by filling in your profile surveys on SaySo you will have a greater chance of being selected for specific surveys.

What are the rewards?

Rewards are what SaySo offers for your time spent giving your opinion. You receive rewards in the form of points which can be redeemed for a large selection of e-gift cards including Coles, Woolworths and many more retailers. You also get points for simple things like signing up, filling out your profile surveys and creating quality community content. But once your balance starts growing it’s up to you what rewards you get and when you exchange them.

Why do we need to test products?

A brand will seek consumer feedback for the following three reasons.

  1. Innovation-Based Research: Innovation-based research seeks feedback on new products, services, or attributes thereof. It can be conducted in focus groups, at home, and in other settings. It’s often hands-on: Participants typically get to try the product or a prototype, sometimes for long periods.
  2. Advertising Research: Advertising research seeks feedback on advertising and marketing collateral, including product packaging. It’s conducive to in-person focus groups and online panels, where variably sized groups of participants can consume content (e.g., watch a video ad or examine a prototype label) and provide feedback. Advertising research aims to hone messaging for the client’s or product’s core audience.
  3. Consumer Research: Brands use consumer research to build internal knowledge of the end-user because they sometimes don’t know as much as they want to know about their customers. Consumer research can also target new pools of potential users. Consumer research is amenable to focus groups, online panels, at-home product testing, and other methodologies.

Focus Group Product Testing

In a focus group, you’re expected to honestly give your opinions about the subject matter at hand, often with visual or physical aids, and always with the assistance of a human moderator. Depending on the subject and length of the focus group, the exchange may be broken into different formats, such as small group conversations and written reflections.

Focus groups are closely monitored and mostly conducted virtually in the comfort of your home. Onsite Focus Groups are conducted in a controlled environment where your contribution is monitored.

You usually don’t need to bring anything special to a focus group. You’ll be asked to put your phone on silent and refrain from recording the conversation, but probably won’t be asked to surrender it for the duration. You’ll also probably receive note paper and a pen, which you can use to take notes and organise your responses during the conversation.

Testing Products at Home

Testing products at home allows participants to do so in the comfort of their homes. A participant receives the product, uses it, and provides feedback so that improvements can be made.

Rather than sitting in a sterile, uncomfortable room, products are now tested in your home, in an environment where they would naturally occur. We believe this leads to more accurate, truthful feedback. Our research shows that constructive feedback can be one of the most influential things brands can receive. This drives innovation that helps consumers get what they actually want, products they will enjoy and value.

Food & beverage
Beauty & skincare
Office supplies
Pet care
Frozen/refrigerated
Beer, wine, & liquor
& more

As part of the test period, consumers will use the product as intended throughout their everyday lives. It may take just a day or a week for these tests to be completed, depending on the research objective.

Testing products at a central location.

During central location testing, a controlled and public environment, such as a supermarket, is used.

Testing at a central location allows for objective feedback since all participants experience the same conditions. The testing period allows researchers to control the environment to reduce bias and observe subtle data, such as body language or facial expressions.

SaySo offers Central Location Testing in both Sydney and Melbourne. If you have any interest in participating in these research activities join SaySo today and make sure your profile is up to date.
